Ms. Zekan

Hello My Name Is...

Samantha Zekan

Welcome to My Kindergarten Classroom

My name is Samantha Zekan and I am so excited to be your child’s Kindergarten Teacher! We have a lot of great learning ahead of us and I would like to tell you a little bit about myself before we get started with the year. I am originally from the Washington D.C. area, where I spent my whole life until I moved here to North Carolina for college in 2006.  I love to stay active and play sports, especially soccer and basketball.
I bought a house in Kannapolis where I live with my fiance Matt and our three dogs; Mac, Kodi, and Charlie and our cat Zeke! They are so sweet and love to cuddle! You'll hear a lot about them during writing time this year!
I found Kannapolis when I did my student teaching in 2nd grade here at Fred L. Wilson. After graduation I was immediately offered a position as a T.A. in First Grade until a Second Grade Position became available. This is my 8th year teaching here at Fred L. Wilson, and I absolutely LOVE it here!! I taught 2nd grade for 3 years and this is my 5th year in Kindergarten! I am working on my Masters in School Administration and will be graduating this Spring. I am so excited for this year! Please feel free to contact me at any time via email or through the phone at 704-932-8656. I look forward to a great school year with your children!

Educational Philosophy/Vision:
I knew that teaching was what I wanted to do from a very young age. I think that learning is a huge part of a child's life and I want to do my best to make sure their learning experience is as fun and beneficial as possible. I am a very fun and silly kind of person, so I like to bring that to my classroom. I feel that laughter is a great thing to have in any kind of learning environment so there will also be a lot of that in my room as well. I think that it is as much my job to work with your children, as it is for you to practice with them as well, so I hope that we can work together as a team to do the best for the students! Thank you for the opportunity and trust you have given me to teach your children this year!
