This is Open Check-Out time for all students. During these hours students are free (with teacher permission) to come to the Media Center to return books and/or check out books. Our media center operates on a Flexible Schedule which means teachers sign up for media time as they need to use the media center for classes, small groups, or individuals. This allows students and staff to have access to our resources whenever they are needed. This also provides more opportunities for students to change books as often as they need to. More reading means better readers!
Guidelines for student checkout:
Kindergarten Students: Kindergarten students will be having "orientation to the Media Center" sessions until they are able to check out materials on their own. In these orientation sessions students are learning about how to take care of books, how to find books in our media center, how to check out their books, and other Media Center procedures. . We are working toward every student being able to come to the Media Center with a classroom pass any time they need a new library book and checking out the materials they need. Kindergarten students may check out 1 book at a time.
1st-4th Graders: First, second, third, and fourth grade students began the year with a review of library procedures, how to care for library resources, and howt o checkout and return their materials. These student will be checking out books on the Open Check-Out schedule (any day they need to exchange a book.) Students will come to the media center anytime during the day between 7:40 - 2:15 with a classroom pass and teacher permission.
First Graders may check out 1 book at a time.
Second, third, and fourth grade students may checkout 2 books at a time.
Parents, please help your children return their library books! We are teaching them to keep their library book in their bookbag so that when they return to school each day they can exchange their book if they have finished it. Thanks for your help!
